AAT - Finance for Non-Financial Managers

A programme of 2 x 90 minute and 1 x 120 minute modules, to be taken consecutively.
Suitable for
Managers and business professionals without a formal accounting or finance background who need a good grasp of financial information and documents to be totally effective in their management role. This will equip you with the financial knowledge to help you manage day-to-day business activity as well as enabling you to communicate/discuss financial matters credibly with colleagues and clients so that you and they become more financially effective.

By the end of the course you will have gained:
- An understanding of some key financial documents used in business, when and why they are used
- The knowledge to interpret information from income statements and statements of financial position
- The ability to interpret and use financial information and analysis to make good business decisions
- An understanding of cash control and it’s importance
- The know how on basic budgets and how to use them to manage business activity
- Credibility and confidence in using a wider range of financial terminology and techniques

- Ratio analysis
- How to interpret using ratio analysis
- How to use selected ratios to interpret information in financial statements
- The limitations of ratio analysis
Session 3 -120 Minutes
Controlling Cash
- Why cash doesn’t equal profit
- What you can do to ensure there’s sufficient cash within the business
Using budgets to manage business activity
- How budgets help with day-to-day business management
- How to interpret information in a budget
